Oh for a full night's sleep....

Noah is almost 10 months.  In the last few weeks he has started crawling, pulling himself to standing and makes the most adorable attempts at waving - though usually just to himself in the mirror.

In addition to this my 'best sleeper' is also waking for feeds one or two times a night, and often more.  Gah.

This has been going on since the Diamond Jubilee.  I remember the date exactly because at our Jubilee garden party I merrily told anyone who would listen how we were tackling the night feeds and it was going really well.  Adrian had been settling him at night when he woke, which was only happening once or twice, and he was lasting to around 5am without a feed. That very night he woke every 2 hours and would not be settled without a feed.

It's been up and down ever since.  I still don't think he's a bad sleeper - if I feed him, he goes straight back to sleep, often for a good few hours.  And when he wakes just once that is fine.  But I find that extra wake ups and feeds creep in and then I have to go through trying to settle him without a feed otherwise one feed becomes two, then three...

The last few nights have seen things creep back up to two feeds in the night (midnight and 3am last night).  He doesn't need two feeds - I don't think he really needs one feed in all honesty, but one step at a time here!

He can fall asleep without a feed, I don't feed him to sleep for his naps, but at night he does seem to like that comforting feed and a full belly to send him off.

At 10 months I was winding down the night feeds with the other two.  But they both used a dummy which was great to soothe them to sleep without a feed in the night.  When Noah gets going at night there is nothing else to offer but a feed.  He never did start sucking his thumb and I often find myself really missing that dummy at 1am...
