Happy Birthday Theo
Today, Theo turns 4.
True to form, when I woke him this morning with a 'Happy Birthday, my 4 year old boy!', the first words out of his mouth were 'No. I am 5'.
Theo, you give me both my highest and my lowest moments in motherhood. Seeing you this morning, as I dropped you off at playgroup, furious that you were having to share out the biscuits we had baked for your friends and scowling at everyone who said Happy Birthday, I felt completely defeated. And then in a flash you switched, proudly displaying your age on your fingers and sitting down eagerly to wait for your turn to hold the pet guinea pig. You were chosen first and were so gentle, holding her on your lap, stroking her softly. I could hardly believe it was the same boy who had stomped, wailing and arguing, out of the house 20 minutes earlier.
4 years ago today, you were a (not so) tiny newborn in my arms.
And look at you now!
I love you, my big boy!

Hope he had a lovely day! It is amazing how they can switch from grumpy to happy in a flash, I wish I could do that!
