Misery is...
...doing the school run in the pouring rain.
Until I had to do this, I didn't appreciate just what a horribly soggy and miserable experience it is. I live less than a 10 minute walk from Freyja's school, so that - plus the fact that it is virtually impossible to park outside the school - means that we always walk whatever the weather. Quite often it seems to be pouring with rain.
I now have a rather fetching blue raincoat because it is impossible to push the push chair and hold an umbrella at the same time (someone, somewhere please invent something). But the whole warm vs dry thing always causes issues because our warm coats won't keep us dry and our raincoats won't keep us warm. Theo hates having the rain cover on his pushchair (and these days would much rather walk, but is far too unpredictable for me to let him loose near the main road we have to cross). Freyja's bags all get soaked by the time we get there. If I bring her umbrella she doesn't want to use it. If I don't bring it she starts moaning that she doesn't have an umbrella. And helping Freyja strip off soggy layers and wellies in a crowded hall with kids racing round and Theo trying to escape never shows me in my best light.

Got to say, I walk most days, but if it's raining hard, I drive.
Yuck!
But I think it has to be even worse to walk to work in the rain. I have a 10 minute walk and I'm fed up of arriving damp and bedraggled with frizzy hair. Sometimes I just think that for the amount of effort it takes to get ready, on rainy days I should just roll up in my PJs. x
I have to admit to having got a fairly unattractive waterproof hat... but that won't solve the wet bags issue
Not a fan of the rain... hope it goes away
@Rowan - cool haven't seen that before. I wonder how well it works.
@PinkCat - yes, going to work in the rain isn't much fun either.
@Muddlingalongmummy - maybe I need a rain hat too!
At least the kids enjoy it - any chance to put their wellies on and jump in puddles.
I go with a Rainwave - http://www.rainwave.co.uk/
Keeps the rain off a treat.
