Disney World
Disney. I guess you either love it or you hate it.

We spent half term in Disney World, Florida. I fall into the 'love it' camp. It's not the theme park thing - I'm not really that bothered about rides and rollercoasters. But I love the way Disney is just geared up to mindless smiling and happiness all day long for no reason at all. You can forget about everything out in the real world and spend your energy doing nothing more than making sure your kids get a photo with Daisy Duck and queuing for 'It's a Small World'. No other theme park does the whole atmosphere thing quite like Disney. It isn't tacky and slightly sad in the way some theme parks can be - it's just clean and happy and pleasant.
And through the eyes of a 5 year old and an almost-3-year old it truely is magical as well. The princesses really were princesses. Daisy and Donald Duck really were Daisy and Donald Duck. Minnie Mouse really did blow Freyja a kiss and Theo really did get high-fived by Stitch (who ever that is...?). Unfortunately Maleficent (the bad fairy from Sleeping Beauty) really was Maleficent too, and left Freyja quaking on the floor when she appeared during one the shows.

I know lots of people hate it and would much rather roll their eyes and frown a lot. And really I am not entirely sure how the people who work there manage to keep smiling all day and every day (five days was more than enough for me). But I don't mind a bit of 'dreams really do come true' magic from time to time. I guess you just have to cast your cynism to one side, stick on a pair of mouse ears and go with it.
Even Adrian, who would put Disney on his top ten list of things never to do, came out smiling.

I bet it was magical - I'm so jealous!
It looks like you've got some fab photos and some great memories. x
"Whoever that is"???
Lilo and Stitch is one of the best Disney movies in existence! I would even lend you my copy.
Although it might make Theo start picking his nose with his tongue...
Disney would never be on my list to visit, but if the kids would love it *that* much, well...
@PinkCat - it was indeed magical!
@Kat - I will add Lilo and Stitch to the list of things to watch. And of course, we only went to Disney for the kids...!
