...

Just been back to the house. I'm now getting very excited. We've had the carpets cleaned and it all looks so much better and smells clean and fresh. The massive spider which was lurking on the stairs this morning, making me jump and Freyja laugh, has been whisked away somewhere by the carpet man. I've met one of my new neighbours ,who has lived there for 25 years and has brought up 2 children. I'm starting to feel like the place is mine.

Gulp...

It's done. We've exchanged and completed. We picked up the keys yesterday after work and went round to our new home. It was very strange - it looked different without the previous owners things in it and both of us found there were things that we had remembered differently about it. We've realised that we'll need to do a bit more painting than we originally thought but we're going to wait until we've move in and decided how we'd like it to look. It was a bit of an anti-climax, I think because we haven't yet moved out of the flat. It seemed so empty and impersonal with nothing in it. I can't wait get our things there and start making it a home.

I walked up there with Freyja this morning to let the carpet cleaner in and then strolled up to Blythe Hill park on the way home. I still feel a little bit sad about moving out of my flat, where I've been so happy for the last 8 years, but we've outgrown it now and need more space and a garden - we need a family home. And we've got a beautiful one now.

Perfect Day

We spent yesterday in Dulwich Park, with a load of my mum friends. We never really meet up on weekends so most of our partners have only met briefly, even though we all spend so much time together. It was glorious weather and proved to be a lovely day out. I like this photo because if you look at the right hand side of it, you'll see Freyja glugging from a massive wine glass...

We were there to celebrate Rosie's leaving - she has just had her second baby and is moving out of London next week. I'll be really sorry to see her go - she was one of the first friends I made in those early days after having Freyja. I had a hold of her new baby, Wilf:

We'd been there a few hours when I had a call from Katie. Turns out she was also in Dulwich park sitting about 50 yards from us. They invited us round later for a barbecue, which involved a bit too much rose wine and Freyja getting another mud bath. She started off just watering the plants:

Then got into tipping the water out and splashing herself:

I blame Caroline. Can't wait to have a garden!
