It's a Kids Thing!

Today we went to Earlsfield to meet up with Karla (Adrian's brother's wife) and Freyja's 2 cousins, Cameron and Charlotte who live in Canada and who we haven't seen for just over a year. We were supposed to be going for a picnic, but the English bank holiday weather intervened and plan B was put into effect - something called It's a Kids Thing! This turned out to be a giant soft play area with a cafe attached. The kids are left to dive around in a padded playground while the adults drink coffee and eat cake. When we arrived there was a party of about 20 six year olds diving around inside, shrieking and yelling. Adrian, not used to this sort of thing, visibly recoiled. Luckily it turned out to be pretty good fun - you can keep a vague eye on your child from the cafe or you can go in with them if you want to and Adrian spent much of the time there somewhere inside the padded ball pit. I actually think these things are a great way to pass a rainy day, particularly now Freyja is older and I seem to spend most of my time when I go for coffee chasing after her. Apparently there is one closer to us called Little Rascals which I think I'll try out. As long as it has a good cafe...

we are veterans of these soft play areas - there are four within striking distance of our house, all on the outer ring road (including one the size of a small aircraft hanger).

the ones up here do toddler mornings - the kids get juice and biscuits and they have a craft table for them to make things. its v good value, so you might want to check that out for the days you're not working (they only do them on weekdays).
